Description

The PlantCT System was designed for various applications including vineyard, orchard and arable crop production. The PlantCT System is a site specific management system which continuously monitors and updates the field conditions and data logs such as environmental conditions; disease risk, pest outbreaks and plant phenological phases.  PlantCT gives you computations about pest risk, environmental information, weather forecast, phenology estimation and finally sends you all this data along with warning messages.

The PlantCTTM System’s highly sophisticated infection prediction models monitor these changing environmental factors:

-air humidity,
-air temperature,
-rain precipitation and
-leaf wetness.

Readucing yield loss

Early diagnosis of disease infection and identification of pest attacks are often difficult with traditional equipment. Determining the timing of a chemical application is one of the number of factors a professional grower has to be aware of including:

  • the application rate and frequency;
  • efficiency of the active substance in the plant protection product;
  • and long term risk of introducing pesticide resistant pests.

In addition the grower needs to know the local environmental conditions and weather forecast to avoid ineffective chemical treatments.Plant CT’s leaf-area calculations help accurately determine the amount spraying material required and prevents overspraying. In case if of a winery for grape you can save one or two sprayings, reducing yield losses by 30 %, and saving around 20 % of pesticide use.

Plant protection on microclimatic levels

Across a single location, there are many different microclimates and there are five main factors affecting microclimates: topography, soil, water, vegetation and the artificial structures.

The canopy is a special microclimate around the foliage of an individual plant – either in arable crops, vineyards or orchards  – and is visited by invasive pathogens/pests, which traditional agriculture can only tackle in a homogenous way.

Spore trapping

The PlantCTTM System has an automated spore trap. The warning system is able to alert growers to the disease risk in the concentration level of airborne pathogens – like downy mildew, powdery mildew, grey mould, etc. – in vineyards or orchards.

The knowledge of spore concentrations during the growing season is a useful tool for disease management, estimation of real infection risk, and helps growers to reduce the chemical application rate and frequency.

Pest trapping

The PlantCTTM scanner has fully-automated sensors for pest detection. Physical sensors are enhanced by state of the art artifical intelligence. The decision support system is capable of the following features:

  • capture members of a specific insect species
  • calculate their critical phenological stage
  • determine when a chemical treatment is required.
